Homemade sourdough from a friend

A friend sent over half a loaf of homemade 40-hour sourdough two weeks ago.

This came at the right time because I had been getting envious of all the sourdough that everyone had been making in quarantine.

I met this friend when I was covering a conference that they were hosting. I don’t think we would have gotten to talking if it weren’t for their co-host, who had brought a bottle of wine and some good cheese to share after the conference was over. We ended up talking about a lot of things that night, and have been good friends ever since.

It’s amazing how you can meet people who share the same beliefs in principles in the most random of settings. You never know if an acquaintance will remain an acquaintance, or if they’ll end up being a close friend. This person introduced me to more like-minded individuals and we’ve all bee there for each other from that time on. The chances of something like this happening are so slim, that it’s happened to us continues to boggle my mind and is something that I’m grateful for.

Just in case you were wondering why I only got half a loaf, it’s because the other half went to another friend from the same group. Hooray for sourdough, and and even bigger hooray for friendship.
