Hyatt opens the Vienna Coffee House
I love the Hyatt, so am posting this, even though I haven’t visited it yet. I should drop by soon though. I love coffee (even though it doesn’t exactly love me back) and I love a press release that gets to use the word legen – wait for it – dary.
You can tell I’ve watched too many episodes of How I Met Your Mother.

As popular as coffee houses are these days, not one can compare to an authentic Viennese café experience. Before the birth of modern espresso establishments that serve coffee in paper cups along with mass-produced commercial pastries, coffee and desserts in Vienna were legendary.
A place where a guest can sit down, read a newspaper or talk for an indefinite period of time with a friend, the coffee houses of Vienna do not rush their patrons. Instead, they are encouraged to take their time and linger.
This April, Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila will create the perfect Vienna coffee house experience for your dining pleasure. Order an aromatic cup of Wiener Kaffee, a black coffee concoction with whipped cream and chocolate shavings, and it will arrive on a small silver platter accompanied by a glass of water, which is Hyatt’s way of telling guests that they do not need to rush, but can take their time and stay for as long as they wish.
The Vienna coffee house experience would not be complete without a serving of the finest cakes and pastries. Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila’s Austrian pastry chef recreates Vienna’s most famous traditional dessert, the Sachertorte, a bittersweet chocolate cake with a filling of home-made apricot jam and covered with a shiny dark chocolate glaze. Other traditional delights include Apple Strudel, Kardinal Shnitte and Gugelhupf.
